Thanks for bothering to come to my website - I spend a long time making this thing. As you can guess from the title this site is dedicated to those genious game developers Squaresoft and Rareware.
So - why are they such geniouses? Well their games are simply awesome:
Squaresoft:
Final Fantasy VII - This is easily the greatest game ever created. I have heard some hardcore RPG fans (of which I am one myself) complaing that this game is not as good as the older Final Fantasies but really this is blown out of proportion. Final Fantasy VI was also awesome but this is just amazing! The graphics, the battle system, and the storyline - which is just completely mind-blowing and creates the kind of emotional involvement with characters that makes just about every developer envy Squaresoft for having that incredible nack for creating such well-designed characters. Scenes such as Aeris' death show the way that Squaresoft creates an emotional connection between the player and the characters involved. As stated before the graphics are wonderful, in more ways than one. Not neccessarily as in a technical acheivement but as in the glorious style and attention to detail that has been imbued upon the countless pre-rendered backdrops. The battle system is easily the best of any RPG to date (Although judgeing by the demo, FFVIII looks set to be even better...) which although it can initially daunt first-time RPG players, it is incredibly intuitive and well deigned once you are used to it. Of particular note is the materia system which is fairly complex, in fact you may not realise how complex it is until by the time you reach the last boss, you spend around an hour making sure that everything is set-up perfectly. After seeing various previews and movies, what I can tell so far is that Final Fantasy VIII will be an even better game than FFVII. I dont know how Squaresoft do it but regardless Final Fantasy VIII will be awesome!

Rare:
Banjo-kazooie - Older gamers maybe put off at first by the 'cute' appearance but dont be! If you miss out on this then you are missing out on one of the greatest games ever created! The characters, the graphics, the gameplay... even the music is fantastic! The first thing that blows you away is the amazing presentation and characterisation. You would swear that this was the creation of Disney or Warner Brothers when you first play this. I have heard some complaints that the characterisation is cheesy but this comes from people who dont get the joke - Banjo-kazooie does not take itself seriously. In fact if there was such a genre as 'spoof-3D platformer' B-K would be the first game to be labelled that. Proof of this is the remarks that Kazooie makes throughout the game towards characters such as Bottles and Tooty also Mumbo Jumbo cannot fail to make you laugh. The graphics are truly gorgeous - still the best on the N64 (Yes better than Zelda which is one of my favourite games ever but I wont go into that) with wonderfully detailed textures coating the expertly designed play area. The variety of tasks and the originality displayed in them is also astounding: How about raising an eagle through the four seasons of the year or playing music for a ghostly hand on a fully functional organ. The variety and depth to this game just cant be touched by any other in this genre. I still hear people saying things like 'the gameplay is not as good as Mario 64' but honestly I really dont understand how anyone could prefer Mario to this work of genious... sorry if I have offended anyone but thats how I feel... Cant wait till Banjo-tooie!
